Fitness Manager in Sydney, Australia - Relocate from the UK on a Working Holiday Visa
AU$80k base (around £42k) + up to 15% annual bonus + superannuation + club membership
Location: Sydney, Australia. Open to UK candidates relocating, with a route to sponsorship after six months.
Please read first: this role is open to UK candidates who are eligible for an Australian Working Holiday Visa. That's the entry route. Once you've been in the role for six months, there is a route to visa sponsorship, so this is not a twelve month working holiday and then home again. It's a genuine move to Australia with a career at the end of it.
Our client is a premium health, racquets and lifestyle club operator, running some of the most impressive facilities in Australia. They're looking for a Fitness Manager in Sydney to lead the gym floor and Personal Training teams at a truly luxurious club, and to drive the rollout of a brand new PT model launching in 2026.
If you've been quietly thinking about making the move to Australia, this is the version of it that actually goes somewhere. You arrive on a Working Holiday Visa, you get six months to prove yourself, and then the conversation turns to sponsorship and staying long term. In the meantime you're running a fitness department in Sydney, reporting directly into the General Manager, with a big focus on growing PT penetration and the freedom to go and do it your way.
On offer is AU$80k base, which is around £42k at current rates and rises to roughly £48k with the bonus at maximum, plus full club membership, ongoing training, a clear progression path and, most importantly, a realistic route to staying in Australia permanently.
Working pattern: Full time with varied hours and days. Shifts typically run 8am to 4pm, 9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm across the week, with flexibility needed to cover classes and floor shifts if the team is short. You can also keep your own PT clients for up to 10 hours a week outside your set shifts.
Key responsibilities:
Leading the team: Managing the gym floor and Personal Training teams day to day, with recruitment, training, coaching and accountability all sitting with you.
PT performance: Leading the rollout and delivery of the 2026 Personal Training model, with a major focus on growing PT penetration across the club.
Operational standards: Keeping the gym floor and wet areas clean, safe, well presented and fully maintained to a premium standard.
Programming: Managing the gym floor group fitness class roster and the delivery of education workshops.
Member experience: Owning member engagement through the club's onboarding journey, and handling feedback quickly and constructively.
Commercial control: Working to departmental budgets and reporting on performance against KPIs set annually by the group.
About you:
Visa eligible: You must be eligible for an Australian Working Holiday Visa, as this is the route in before sponsorship is discussed at six months.
Experienced: At least four years in a supervisory or management role within the fitness industry, whether that's Fitness Manager, Gym Manager, Assistant General Manager or similar in the UK.
Qualified: Level 3 Personal Trainer as a minimum, with a willingness to convert to the Australian Certificate IV in Fitness, plus First Aid and CPR and a Working With Children Clearance once in country.
A leader: Naturally motivational, with a track record of building high performing teams and developing personal trainers.
Commercially minded: Comfortable with budgets, numbers and driving performance targets.
Ready to commit: Genuinely serious about relocating and building a career in Australia rather than travelling through.
What's in it for you:
A clear route to visa sponsorship after your first six months in the role.
AU$80k base salary, around £42k at current exchange rates, plus up to 15% of salary in annual bonus, taking the package to roughly £48k.
Superannuation, which is Australia's version of pension contributions, paid on top of your salary.
Full club membership.
Ongoing training and professional development.
The chance to keep up to 10 PT hours a week alongside the role.
A leadership career inside one of Australia's most premium club brands, based in Sydney.
[Holiday: X days including public holidays.]
Sterling figures are a rough guide based on exchange rates at the time of advertising, and the salary is paid in Australian dollars.
