Duty Manager – Leisure Facility

We are seeking a motivated and proactive Duty Manager to join a busy leisure facility in Bexleyheath. This is a key operational role, ideal for someone looking to progress their career in leisure management while delivering high standards of customer service, safety, and facility performance.

About the Role

As Duty Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the centre during your shift. You will lead staff, ensure excellent customer experiences, and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging environment for all users.

This role offers a varied and rewarding opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, with scope to contribute to programming, staff development, and operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the facility, ensuring high standards of customer care and safety

• Act as a key holder, responsible for opening/closing the site and handling emergency call-outs

• Lead and support staff on shift, ensuring effective teamwork and communication

• Maintain cleanliness and quality standards across all areas of the facility

• Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times

• Assist in delivering and developing innovative programmes and activities

• Support staff training, performance, and development

• Monitor operational performance and contribute to continuous improvement

• Handle customer queries, feedback, and incident management professionally

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience in a leisure, fitness, or customer-facing environment

• Demonstrates strong leadership and organisational skills

• Can build positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders

• Communicates effectively at all levels

• Is flexible and able to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends

• Is proactive, reliable, and committed to delivering high standards

Desirable Qualifications

• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

• Pool Plant Operator certification

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to undertake a DBS check (required for this role)

• Ability to support operational duties, including poolside and recreation tasks when needed
